Twin infants cling to one another during their first bath time

In a gentle embrace with their eyes closed, these newborn twins were indulging in their first bath. These fascinating photos, which suddenly became an internet hit, were published on a social network by a midwife from Paris.

The two-minute 50-second long clip was uploaded to YouTube on November 8 by Paris-based midwife Sonia Rochel, and has since been watched almost four million times. Ms Rochel made the clip public to showcase ‘The Thalasso Baby Spa’ – a small bath tub and shower unit she designed for babies to replicate the feeling of being in the womb. In the video, The little sister and the little brother, just after the birth, didn’t stop hugging each other during the first bath together, as if no one should ever ᴅɪᴠɪᴅᴇ them. They didn’t mind the midwife’s touch or the fact that they were completely ɪᴍᴍᴇʀsᴇᴅ in water. They grip on to each other as they float in the tiny basin filled with tepid water.

A nurse is seen gently cradling and supporting their delicate ʙᴏᴅɪᴇsas they appear peacefully sleeping. At one point, water is carefully showered over their foreheads and eyes, while their noses and mouths remain above the surface so they can breathe with ease. At the end of the clip the pair of infants are sᴄᴏᴏᴘᴇᴅ out of the bath, placed on a mat and wrapped in towels to dry.

They were just a few days old when they experienced the bath at the maternity clinic where they were born Ms Rochel said. They are now around one-month-old.  In an interview posted online last year, Ms Rochel, a grandmother of six said she came up with the unique bathing method after taking a shower and realizing it felt great to have the water running on her face. So she decided to try the technique with the newborns and noticed it made them move like they do in the womb. Ms Rochel has bathed twins together several times before and said she was not surprised by the infants’ reaction in the video. ‘The babies’ amazing response to the water is always beautiful to see,’ she said.

The Thalasso Baby Bath, created by French nurse, Sonia Rochel, involves cradling a baby tenderly in the bath and running water gently over the baby’s face – to imitate how it feels for a baby in the womb. Sonia has filmed her breathtakingly tender technique before but this is the first time she’s been filmed bathing twins. The technique looks very relaxing, the fraternal-twin babies look super-chilled, but Sonia does not recommend that parents try this at home.
