An extremely elusive black leopard was discovered in Iɴᴅɪᴀ’s Tadoba-Andhari National Park. The amazing sᴄᴇɴᴇ was captured by 24-year-old wildlife photographer Anurag Gawande. Earlier this year, while on a safari, Anurag saw the melanistic leopard trying to cross a road in pursuit of a deer.

The unusual wild cat was discovered by the fortunate photographer from a distance of less than 30 feet. Naturally, the 24-year-old had trouble believing what he was witnessing when he saw such a magnificent creature. It was unexpected because they expected to see a tiger, but instead they spotted a black leopard ambling along the sidewalk, the man stated.

Anurag claimed, however, this was the second time in less than a year that he had seen the unusual species. While watching it, he experienced the same exhilaration, but this time he was conscious of the occasion. They kept their car off and kept a safe enough distance for it to remain in place.

Anurag recalled the extraordinary event, saying that they were tracking a tiger but on the way on Tadoba Lake they heard a deer yell and at the next second they saw Black leopard.  It was sitting on the sidewalk. It then saw the deer and made an unsuccessful attempt to ʜᴜɴᴛ it. That was the lone black leopard in Tadoba Park, according to Anurag.

Experts estimate that 11% of leopards are born with distinctive coloration, making them a very uncommon sight. In addition to leopards, melanistic animals also include tigers, foxes, and even penguins. Melanism develops due to the black pigmentation of the skin, as opposed to albinism, which is characterized by a lack of skin pigmentation!
