“Rosenberg held his lockout for nearly five seconds. With his new world record, Rosenberg becomes the second person ever to score a successful Jefferson deadlift of at least 900 pounds. The only other member of that club is the former world record holder Sean Green, who achieved a 411-kilogram (906-pound) Jefferson deadlift on Dec. 1, 2019. Green’s record held for three years and 30 days,” the Bar Bend reports.

“First 900lb+ Deadlift. Highest Recorded Jefferson Deadlift ever AFAIK. New number one position on the @massenomics leaderboard,” says Mark Rosenberg on his official Instagram page.

“Ended the year with a bang. Figured why not take a crack at something massive. And to think the 6 plate warmup felt hard, never trust your warmups.”Massive thanks to @madtownfitness, without whom I literally could not have done this as they hooked me up with the magnificent Ivankos on the ends as well as some wonderfully skinny machined 45s. Greatest gym in the Midwest for sure.”

“His record-setting achievement came after he struggled in his warmups. After seeing the new Jefferson Deadlift world record he’d tell his powerlifting/weightlifting community to ‘never trust your warmups.’”Just before putting up the 910-pound Jefferson Deadlift, Mark Rosenberg sniffed some ammonia and then made history. I mention that just in case anyone was wondering what he was sniffing there,” the Bro Bible reports.”In order to do the Jefferson Deadlift, the powerlifter straddles the bar with feet shoulder-width apart. They grab the bar underneath their shoulders and stand up.”

“The deadlift is a weight training exercise in which a loaded barbell or bar is lifted off the ground to the level of the hips, torso perpendicular to the floor, before being placed back on the ground. It is one of the three powerlifting exercises, along with the squat and bench press.” (Wikipedia)”Two styles of deadlift are commonly used in competition settings: the sumo deadlift and the standard deadlift. While both of these styles are permitted under the rules of powerlifting competition, only the conventional stance is used in strongman deadlifting contests.

“A Jefferson deadlift involves straddling the bar so it is lifted between the legs, with one leg in front and one leg behind.”
