Mohamed Salah’s villa in Cairo has been burgled, according to sources in Egypt.

Salah returned from Bournemouth to find out one of his properties had been ransacked

The Liverpool forward started and missed a penalty in Jurgen Klopp’s side’s 1-0 away defeat to Bournemouth in the early kick-off on Saturday (March 11). However, barely 24 hours after the loss on the South Coast, reports from his homeland had claimed his nephew returned to the villa to find it had been ransacked by burglars.

When the police were contacted, they entered his villa to find items strewn all around the building while several other items were stolen.

“The surrounding surveillance cameras are being unloaded, and the security personnel in charge of securing the place are being interrogated,” a source told Al-Ahram. “The security services are intensifying their efforts to solve the mystery of the incident, and the necessary legal measures have been taken.”

It’s believed Salah’s nephew realised something was suspicious after he noticed an open window in the villa. It was then he contacted police, who came across the mess within the house.

There has been no confirmation as to what exactly has been stolen from Salah’s villa. However, the Egyptian outlet explains “electrical” items and “devices” were taken from the villa.

Salah had been playing against Bournemouth in the afternoon

The former Chelsea and Roma forward is a national icon in Egypt and their greatest player ever. He is known, by club and country, as “the Egyptian King” and “the Pharaoh” for his dynamic performances and leadership.

As well as winning the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Club World Cup with the Merseysiders, he is, by some distance, the most famous sportsman in Egypt.

He has won won two African Footballer of the Year titles and also spearheaded his nation to their first World Cup in 28 years as well as the Africa Cup of Nations Final last year.
