The Rarest Cars That Starred In ‘The Fast And Furious’ Movies

These rare and gorgeous modified cars are the reason why gearheads love the Fast and Furious movies.

It’s no secret, we love Fast and Furious. Although the series has evolved in the almost 20 years it’s been out, the cars have gotten even rarer and more insane. Early movies relied on JDM culture and street-modified cars. Some of the iconic cars in the first movie are a modified A3 VW Jetta and the Orange MK4 Supra that Brian O’Conner drives.

Fast-forward eight movies, and you have a rocket-powered Pontiac Fiero and Dom driving a 1968 Dodge Charger. Across all the movies though, there are some insanely rare cars. Of course, most sports cars are destroyed in the movies, so replicas have to be employed. Here are some of the rarest cars from the Fast and Furious franchise.

Featured at the end of Fast Five, the LFA sounds so good that it has to be on this list. It is a pretty rare car too, with only 436 regular models made. The jointly developed Yamaha and Toyota V10 engine puts out 510 hp.

Titanium valves and magnesium-aluminum composite give it that distinct glass-shattering LFA sound. However, it wasn’t the most economically viable car and Lexus discontinued it 2 years into production. You’ll be pleased to know that most of the engine knowledge went into future Lexus products like the IS-F and F-Sport models.

Another Fast Five car, this time from the start of the movie. Although it played a minor role in the movie, the car is almost as iconic as the franchise itself. About 10 replicas were produced for the movie. The rarity of the car means that it can’t risk any stunts or damage.

About 9000 were built originally, but few remain in drivable condition. It came with a number of engine options, with most owners opting for the 250-hp big-block V8.

Of all the cars on this list, the Ford GT40 is probably the rarest. Every car is a one-off, hand-built model. The 4.7-liter V8 gives off a distinct racing sound, so much so that Ford would recreate the car with the Ford GT almost 50 years later.

In terms of rarity, they could not even source an actual model for the movie. The car in the movie is a complete replica.

Fast and Furious 7 has one of the rarest and most expensive hypercars of the franchise, the Lykan Hypersport. Seven of these cars were made. Nine replicas were built and destroyed in the movie with the only actual model shown in the Abu Dhabi showroom scene.

The twin-turbo flat-6 engine developed by RUF (the people behind RUF Porsches) puts out around 700 hp. For some more extravagance, buyers have the choice of diamonds, rubies, or sapphires to line the headlights.

6 Veilside Mazda RX-7Han's Veilside Mazda RX-7 Universal Pictures

Perhaps the most iconic Fast and Furious car from the most divisive film of the franchise, Tokyo Drift. This car is a modified 1996 RX-7 FD. The stock model makes around 255 hp from a twin-turbo 13B twin-rotor engine.

The distinct rotary sound makes this a memorable Fast and Furious car. Of course, the veilside body kit sparked a re-interest in wide-body kits.

5 1971 Jensen Interceptor1969-Jensen-Interceptor-FF-Mk-Isource:jensen cars

The Jensen interceptor is a distinct British tourer. In the states, the company used a Chrysler V8, making 250 hp. One of the quickest sports cars of the ’70s, Jensen produced 6400 of these carriage-built sports cars.

The on-screen car uses a Chevrolet LS3 V8 that makes 430 hp. The F6 team could not source a British, Right-hand drive model, so opted for a Left-hand drive model.

4 Dodge Charger DaytonaDodge Charger DaytonaMecum Auctions

Another insane modified car from Fast and Furious 6. Stock, these sports cars made 390 hp from a big-block HEMI V8. Remembered for its massive wing and drag tires, the Dodge Charger Daytona stands alone as a winged warrior halo car.

Of course, the car used in the movie uses a 500 hp LS3 and has a NOS supercharger kit. This car was only in production for the 1969 year. Only 500 of these cars were made and only 70 used the HEMI engine.

The FXX is a clear successor to the Enzo Ferrari. However, it didn’t actually go into production and remained a developmental track car. Only 40 of these were made. In the beginning of Fast 6, Tej Parker is seen driving it.

Of course, the car in the actual movie is a replica. Not much is known about the engine of the movie car. However, the stock version uses a Ferrari V12 that makes 650 hp.

2 Eagle SpeedsterEagle SpeedsterEagle

Fast and Furious 6 was chock-full of rare sports cars. This was only used as a showroom car in the movie, but the bubbly exterior is certainly eye-catching. The Eagle speedster itself is essentially a reborn Jaguar E-Type.

The exact power numbers are unknown, but the speedster uses a 4.7-liter all-aluminum engine. In terms of driving experience, it’s geared towards classic car lovers, so the focus is not on quick power response.

4 of these cars were made. “2 now in the Western Hemisphere” as Tej says in Fast and Furious 5. Koenigsegg is more like a carriage builder, in the way that they produce very limited numbers of their vehicles.

The CCX-R is powered by a 4.8-liter V8 twin-supercharged engine making 806 hp. Of course, Koenigsegg would not allow their cars to be modified, so it sticks with the carbon fiber panels and shell.
