Marcus Rashford summed up why he can be Erik ten Hag’s perfect Manchester United forward in one sentence

Marcus Rashford has scored 21 goals for Manchester United in all competitions this campaign.

Everything that Marcus Rashford has touched this season has turned to goals for Manchester United and he continues to prove himself to be the perfect forward for an Erik ten Hag team.

Having grabbed only five goals in what was a dismal 2021/2022 season, individually and collectively, question marks over the role he might play under Ten Hag were sounded. However, the rejuvenated England sensation has since silenced them with vigour – including one lingering concern from his manager.

Spearheaded by Rashford and his 21 strikes in all competitions, United are still battling it out on four fronts as the business end looms. How many trophies they end up with remains to be seen, but Rashford must maintain his jaw-dropping form for the club to uphold their chances.

Not since 2017 have United won silverware of any description. But will the golden boy now turn his hand to silver after dealing in goals for currency this season?

After coming up with the goods to gun down bitter rivals Leeds on Sunday afternoon, Rashford embraced his manager on the touchline and their relationship has gone from strength to strength throughout the campaign, minus one time-keeping error which led to the player being dropped against Wolves.

By now knowing what it takes to get Rashford ticking, Ten Hag praised his star man post-match after his latest goal in the Leeds game. However, his verdict also came with a warning about not settling for what he has, only Rashford had previously answered that proposition in a single sentence.

Speaking on Sunday afternoon, Ten Hag said: “I don’t know when it [his form] will stop but, if you are satisfied with it, then it will. Because satisfaction goes to laziness, you have to keep investing every day.”

He continued: “When he keeps the investment and keeps the focus in every game and brings the energy and belief in, he will keep scoring. He has the skills to score with right, with left and his head. It’s about him getting into position [to keep scoring goals].”

At the start of his ongoing ascent to Premier League domination, Rashford summed up his response to those question marks and, in a few short words, gave Ten Hag no reason to panic. Rashford said: “If I’m scoring goals and winning, then I’m happy.” He must be on top of the world right now.
