“That’s 100% true” – 60 y/o manager “keen to come back” to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea legend Jose Mourinho wants ‘to come back’ to Stamford Bridge for a third spell and ‘approached’ prospective new buyers of the Blues when they first went up for sale, journalist Simon Phillips has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The 60-year-old is currently in charge of Serie A outfit Roma and guided them to Europa Conference League glory in 2021/22, completing a career trilogy of continental trophies in Europe.

Chelsea latest news – Jose Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho tells Chelsea chiefs he wants third stint in charge with Roma boss hoping for family reunion in London as Todd Boehly's stance on Graham Potter is revealed

Lately, The Daily Mail reported that Mourinho was interested in returning to Stamford Bridge for a third spell in charge and is said to be unhappy in charge of Roma due to a lack of financial backing.

The legendary Portuguese manager has already informed his representatives that he would be open to a Premier League comeback, with his family being based in London and the majority of his social life.

Mourinho’s entourage has let it be known to Chelsea chiefs that he would be keen to assume the responsibility of any forthcoming vacancy at the club; however, they are set to stick by Graham Potter for the forseeable future.

In terms of other openings in London, the West Ham United job could become available in the coming weeks if their shaky run of form under David Moyes continues to linger.

What has Simon Phillips said about Jose Mourinho?

Journalist Phillips says that Mourinho got in contact with potential Chelsea buyers when the club was up for sale to offer his services.

Phillips told GMS: “It’s true, I heard this months ago and I actually reported it on my site because I was told that Mourinho approached some of the potential Chelsea buyers when the club was first up for sale through Jorge Mendes, obviously, the agent who has good connections with Mourinho and Chelsea.

“He said ‘I want to come back to the club, if you’re thinking about a new manager, I want to come back for a third spell’, so Mourinho is keen to come back to Chelsea that’s 100% true.”

Could Mourinho ever complete a sensational return to Chelsea?

Nothing is impossible and you wouldn’t bet against the possibility in the future of Mourinho returning one more time to the club he enjoyed so much success at in the earlier stages of his managerial career.

Across his two spells with Chelsea, the 60-year-old guided them to three Premier League titles, three EFL Cup trophies, one FA Cup and one Community Shield honour, as per Transfermarkt.

AHEAD OF THE GAME: Jose Mourinho wants to return to Chelsea | Daily Mail Online

Heralded as a master tactician and never short of a charismatic quip in press conferences, Mourinho is someone who always provides entertainment value in abundance when in charge of an elite club.

Chelsea boss Potter looks to have the full support of the Stamford Bridge ownership just now, though that won’t stop the football romantics dreaming of a shock return to West London for Mourinho.

Chelsea looking to offer 22-year-old midfielder a new contract

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher feels humbled by comparisons to N'Golo Kante.

Chelsea looking to offer Conor Gallagher a new deal

Conor Gallagher could renew his deal at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea are expected to extend the midfielder’s contract.

According to the the Sun (via Football.London), Chelsea will likely extend Conor Gallagher’s contract and even raise his salary.

The Stamford Bridge player, 22, makes £50,000 a week and might see a boost in pay as the club looks to offer him a new contract. He made the decision to remain at the club despite a late bid from Everton for the young player.

Newcastle United urged to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Is Gallagher worthy of a contract extension at Chelsea?

The outstanding loan at Crystal Palace, where he played in 39 games across all competitions and registered eight goals and five assists, saw the England international return to Chelsea this summer.

Returning to Stamford Bridge hasn’t been the same, though, as Gallagher barely made an appearance under Thomas Tuchel while Graham Potter’s arrival resulted in him playing 21 games across all competitions.

His impact hasn’t been much from the centre of the park, as the 22-year-old has merely been a difference-maker for Chelsea. It’s a telling point that he has played only 973 minutes of football this season.

Furthermore, extending contracts doesn’t seem like a wise idea unless it’s just one or two years of renewal. It hardly makes sense to just extend a player’s contract, who has not had a measurable influence during the matches.

Chelsea have a talented midfielder in Conor Gallagher.

Additionally, the midfielder’s contract expires in 2025, giving Chelsea plenty of time to decide whether to extend it. (Transfermarkt). Otherwise, if Potter believes Gallagher can still succeed and has a plan for him in the foreseeable future, such an extension is reasonable.

One case that can be made for such a renewal is that we can then extend our control over his future and quote a big price if a team is interested in him. Enzo Fernandez’s arrival shows that the Blues’ midfield will be filled with competition, especially with Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei also eager to make an impression.

Regardless of whether this is in the club’s best interest, we simply hope that Gallagher soon finds his footing and contributes in the middle of the park. We can use his services – at least in the next few months or even seasons – now that Jorginho isn’t here and N’Golo Kante seems to be on a decline and in the twilight of his career at Chelsea.

He could be a big part of the young team the Blues are building. It’s now up to him if he takes his chances or not in the coming years.
