Since love knows no limits, you can’t blame gravity for falling in love. Anyone, anywhere, at any time, could experience it. For instance, a tiger and a lion.
Cameron the lion and Zabu the white tigress were bred together in a roadside zoo in New Hampshire, New England, with one goal in mind: to one day give birth to ligers (hybrids of a male lion and a female tiger). Cameron was 200 pounds underweight, and Zabu had a genetic fault as a consequence of inbreeding (indeed, white tigers like Zabu don’t exist in the wild since they can’t hide from assault or pursue their prey), so life in the zoo wasn’t easy.
Despite all difficulties and hurdles, they were still madly in love with one other.
When they were both four years old, the unusual duo was saved by Big Cat Rescue. Their lives were significantly impacted as a result of these kind-hearted rescuers. They even constructed a large cage for them so that these two love bugs might enjoy their freedom and live as happily as possible, of course with each other.
Zabu was the first to be spayed, but the procedure only lasted a few years until she became ill and Cameron became overly protective of his lover. Because his violent behavior may endanger him and others, the keepers chose to neuter him or remove him from Zabu. Cameron was neutered, so it was simple, even if it meant he’d lose his magnificent hair.
Cameron grew more calmer after the procedure, and the hair loss didn’t disturb the lovey-dovey pair at all. They had a great life together for over 20 years, until Cameron died of liver cancer in February 2019.
The rescuers said on their website, “We will miss his roars over Tiger Lake and his joyous antics with his toys.” “We’ll miss witnessing his and Zabu’s affection for each other displayed in regular showers and spooning sleeps. Cameron was the cat that should have inspired us to put an end to the practice of rearing wild cats for life in cages.”
Zabu was barely gone for a month when he passed away. “Now they are together forever,” their rescuers wrote.
