Real Madrid might have Erling Haaland transfer plan

It is clear that there are several positions where Real Madrid need to strengthen in the future. It is a bit of a transitional phase for the club right now, as several legends move away while new players arrive, hoping to become icons themselves. We have seen stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Casemiro, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and several more depart, who were so integral to the team that produced so many Champions League titles over the past decade or so.

Transfer gossip: Real Madrid plan Erling Haaland swoop as part of double raid on Man City

One area where Real Madrid definitely need to strengthen in the near future is striker. Karim Benzema remains the main man there but one has to remember that he is 35 years of age and has dealt with several injury problems in recent times. On the other hand, his back-up option is Mariano Diaz, who barely features and is expected to leave at the end of the season.

Rumours broke out recently though that Real Madrid are only looking to sign a short-term back-up striker next summer, who will be able to provide cover for Benzema for one season.

Of course, the club have already gotten a deal over the line for Endrick, who will arrive in the summer of 2024. But could their stance also be hinting at a move for Erling Haaland?

Real Madrid might have Haaland transfer plan

While Manchester City might not be having their best of seasons, Haaland has certainly taken to English football like a duck to water. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 31 goals and provided 3 assists in 27 appearances.

Real Madrid make incredible transfer plan to sign Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland - Report

That is extraordinary to say the least and it is worth remembering that he is still just 22 years of age and nowhere near his prime.

Rumours have suggested that a release clause will become active in his contract with Manchester City in the summer of 2024. Could Real Madrid potentially have their eye on that and is that why they do not want to bring in a long-term striker for another season?

Of course, there is the matter of Endrick arriving in 2024 and some have suggested that Real Madrid will not sign Haaland due to that. But then, even at that point of time, the Brazilian wonderkid would be just 18 years of age.

Would Real Madrid go into the 2024/25 season with an 18-year-old Endrick and Benzema, who would be inching towards his 37th birthday, at that point? Or would they try to sign arguably the best striker of his generation, if possible?
